TIPS FOR INCOMING STUDENTS!
Are you a grade nine starting your first day IN high school, or a transfer student from another school in 2022? Our Drama Council and current Grade 9 Drama students put together some great tips for starting your new year at KCI!
"Ask someone already involved in the Drama department how you can get involved yourself! They’ll be more than happy to help you out.
Come out to KCI Drama’s productions, and see if it’s something that interests you. If it’s the right fit for you, join Drama Council as a representative to see/help things get put together and help make the department the best it can be and to join the fun experiences. Take a grade 9 drama class, and if you can’t take grade 10 next year! Keep a positive attitude while considering joining different clubs/groups of the school. Audition for everything and anything you can! Even if you don’t get cast, you gain audition experience and can ask how you could improve for your next one!" "Join everything you possibly can, meet as many new people as you possibly can, just be yourself, don't care what anyone thinks, just go crazy and be yourself."
"Don't be afraid to talk to people that you don't know, especially people in other grades. Believe me older grades may look scary but they can be some of the best people you ever meet. And they give great advice. Never be afraid to ask for help from teachers because believe it or not, they can actually be quite helpful, friendly and understanding. Get involved... Seriously do it, people who don't like high school are the people not involved. It will help you grow and make even more friends. JUST DO IT."
